The Story of Blue Grape

Blue Grape was founded by Rhiannon Stafford. After 20 years in HR and Leadership Development, she was frustrated at how organisations “did” people management.

After some amazing experiences where she was trusted, empowered, delivered a fantastic job and felt awesome; she also experienced the opposite. She was micromanaged, told she wasn’t good enough and didn’t “fit in”; and generally delivered some pretty poor pieces of work.

This made her want to find a better way of doing things. So she started Blue Grape and her mission to show how harnessing the power of your people can make your business grow!

I really am on a mission to unleash the awesomeness of your people to delight your customers.

I’ve worked in a number of industries, and with a variety of people, and this has taught me a lot about human behaviour. The most important thing I’ve learnt is that you can’t change other people. But you can change your own behaviour, to draw out a different response from other people.

It took me a while to learn this – maybe too long. But when I look back, I did my best work when I felt confident, listened and really understood what my colleagues, team and organisation wanted. I also felt most engaged and happy with myself. I realised that I could control my behaviour, and that was the best way to influence other people’s behaviour and their reaction to me.

Now I’m a parent to a teenager, running my own business and juggling trying to keep myself sane, fit and happy. I live in a lovely village in rural Northamptonshire and enjoy playing an active part in our community. You could find me running the bar at our village fete, serving Christmas teas in the village hall, or being part of a not so successful pub quiz team! And around all that, I’ll be in the gym working on my burpees or planks. Anything to get my heart rate up and sweat running!
